Frozen Roses and Frosé

July 9, 2018

In my last post, I showed you how to surround your bottles of rosé (I love the Harry & David rosé shown above!) with a wreath of blooming summer roses. Now I’ll show you how to keep the rosé chilled with frozen rose buds!

I would have made these in an ice cube tray, but because I have an automatic ice maker at home I didn’t have any trays on hand. I did, however, have plastic shot glasses, so I decided to go with them. Continue Reading…

DIY Mason Jar American Flag Vase

Seriously, is there anything you can’t do with a few mason jars? I took three small, clear mason jars and painted them in a stars and stripes tribute to Old Glory. One stem of blue hydrangea in each and you have a beautiful, fun, inexpensive centerpiece. You could paint a couple more while you’re at it and use them to hold cutlery or straws, or even tea lights, creating a festive look for evening festivities.

Create and Curate Part III

June 19, 2018

Creating a floral arch on site was the final project of the workshop. This was a group project that was led by Kaylee and an assistant, with help throughout the process from all attendees.

The first step to creating this fresh flower floral arch is to attach a brick of floral foam, which has been thoroughly soaked in clean water, to the sides and top of the metal base. Continue Reading…

Create and Curate Part II

June 15, 2018

As if being surrounded by the most spectacular blooms imaginable, the workshop was held at one of Charleston’s hottest event spaces (The Knot 2018 Best of Weddings Pick). The Cedar Room at Mercantile and Mash, located in the celebrated Cigar Factory, is an open and airy space, featuring historic wood columns, hardwood floors, and original elements of the circa 1881 building. The walls consist of rustic brick and floor-to-ceiling windows that reveal a view of the architecturally acclaimed Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.

Create and Curate in Historic Charleston

June 13, 2018

I love flowers so much that even though floral design is what I do for a living, creating with flowers is what I like to do on my “time off”. I recently treated myself to a fabulous workshop hosted by Mayesh Wholesale in Charleston, SC and turned the whole thing into an anniversary road trip for me and my hubby! It was our first time in Charleston but it won’t be our last!

It’s Dad’s Turn to be
the Guest of Honor

Celebrate Dad with a Father’s Day Beer Tasting

We received such great feedback on our Wine Tasting for Mom event that I thought, why not plan something similar for Dad? This time we’re going with a beer tasting event in dad’s honor!

Thanks to an increasing appreciation for quality beer production, there are new breweries popping up all over the country. There’s a good chance that there’s one right in your neighborhood or close by. If possible, hosting your Father’s Day event right at the brewery can add a unique feel and make it more fun for everyone. Leaving the beer to the experts gives you more time to focus on the decorations and the fun details that make Dad feel loved and honored for all he does!

I reached out to Gretchen Schmidhausier, a friend of my sister, who recently fulfilled a lifelong dream and opened a microbrewery in her hometown of Neptune City, New Jersey, on the Jersey Shore. The Little Dog Brewing Company was named after Gretchen’s dog Quincy, a basenji, who is also the face of the brand!

Graduation Decorations That Go for the Gold

Graduation truly is a time to sparkle and shine—and using gold in your party décor will also put you right on trend. Gold is everywhere these days and in many different ways: foil, leaf, glitter, tassel, etc. Here are a few easy ways to make your graduation the one that outshines the rest!

Duct tape, you’ve come a long way! One of the simplest ways to customize and add some pizzazz to your centerpieces is to wrap a piece of gold duct tape around the vase and write a message on the tape. This gold duct tape is actually dry-erase as well—what could be easier! Continue Reading…

Flowers That Speak to the Heart

May 8, 2018

I love putting the right combination of flowers and container together to create a gift that speaks to a person’s heart. This time it spoke to my heart as well because I was creating a Mother’s Day gift for my granddaughter to give to her mom, my daughter-in-law Lina.

Lina and I both love objects with a story and history, and she has always admired my collection of Made in America hobnail milk glass from the Fenton® company!

I have given Lina a few pieces over the years, including this cachepot. It’s one of my favorite shapes and sizes. It looks stunning filled with fresh-cut flowers and just as fabulous when empty with an LED votive light inside. It gives the milk glass a pretty warm glow.

Once we chose the container, it was time to choose the flowers for our bouquet. Olivia knows what she likes and pink is her favorite color!

Mother’s Day Wine Tasting

May 7, 2018

A Unique Mother’s Day Activity to Wow Mom

Spring is here and Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Have you started to think about how you can show mom just how much you love her and how special she is? Hosting a Mother’s Day wine tasting is a fun way to spend time with mom for you to enjoy the holiday together!

The planning and preparation can be as much fun as the event itself! Getting together with a few of your and moms friends to plan a Mother Daughter Wine Tasting party, makes for a great girls day and for a guaranteed good time. In addition to the mother/daughter ideas, a Mother’s Day wine tasting for the whole family (21 and older of course!), can be equally as fun!
